According to UPI, Ron Webster checked out a copy of Structure and Function in Primitive Society in 1953 from a University of Liverpool library when he was working as a research assistant at the British college. Only recently did the now-91-year-old Webster realized he’d neglected to return the book, and set out to right that wrong. Thankfully for Webster, the library agreed to waive the $7,643 fine “on the condition that Mr Webster agreed, henceforth, to live an exemplary life and return all his books on time.
I still have a video that I rented from Hollywood Video back in like 2008….I wonder what THAT fine would be if I had to return it now. It’s the first season of “East Bound and Down” if anyone is wondering. Don’t rat me out!
